Family days out in the summer holidays

This is the summer that keeps on giving. We’ve had to dodge the odd downpour but we’ve been blessed with lots of long sunny days since the end of term. So for those of you wanting to make the most of the some with the kids before they head off back to school, what are the best family days out in the summer holidays?

Harry Potter World -

Something for the petrol-heads in your house. Rev up the bank holiday weekend with Blenheim Palace’s Festival of Transport. The birthplace of Winston Churchill, this stately estate is jam-packed with a dazzling array of activities for all ages – from circus skills to recycled sculpture making.

They’ve read all the books and they’ve made you watch the movies a dozen times. Why not surprise your little wizards with a truly magical day out at Harry Potter World? The crew saved up many of the props and sets once filming was completed on the last blockbuster so you’ll all get to enjoy the real deal. They can even conjure up their own special effects with green screen technology. Not on travel – side-step the replacement buses, as the work continues at Watford Junction this month and let us take you there door to door.

It can be so exciting taking your children to the places you loved when you were growing up. A trip to Alton Towers was, for many of us, such a memorable, adrenalin-packed adventure. Nowadays the theme park has grown into quite a resort. With its spa and waterpark you can make a weekend of it, staying in one of the hotels in a themed room. Go on, tire yourselves out! We’ll pick you up and save you having to make the long drive home.

If you have a clan of spy kids, treat them to a day trying to solve the mystery of a large collection of giant chunks of rock in the middle of the countryside!  We’re of course talking about Stonehenge. Track down clues at the new visitor centre, go inside Neolithic house made using authentic materials then hop onto the shuttle bus to the monument to mull over the reasons it might have been built. Find out about the ways the site has formed part of the spiritual life of so many people over the years.

Avoid the busy car parks and long drive home. Let us take the strain. We can help you book a journey for up to 8 people up to 12 months in advance. Arrange for everyone to be picked up on the way and even split the bill with our handy cost per passenger feature. You can request child seats when you book to keep your little ones safe.

So what are you waiting for? Get stuck into these stimulating daytrips before the nights draw in and we’re all back in our onesies! To find out how booking with minicabit works, check out our super quick 40 second video!
